Our Committees

Legislative Committee – Ailsa von Dobeneck Nelson, Chairperson

The Legislative Committee consists of government affairs and leadership for Texas short lines and works closely with the Marketing Committee when efforts are needed to engage membership. 

The Committee is focused on issues directly impacting Texas short line railroads, including:

• Creating state level funding opportunities for the short line railroad industry.
• Working with TXDOT to push partnership for federal grant programs.
• Opposing increases in truck size and weight on Texas roads and guarding against unnecessary crew size mandates.
• Educating our Texas elected officials by helping member railroads and supplier organizations host grassroots political events in Texas to showcase the importance of Texas railroads to the state economy and how federal policies can influence future opportunities.

Membership Committee – Anabelle Cormier, Chairperson

The Membership Committee’s sole focus is on recruitment and retention of TSLRRA members and prospective members. The committee works closely with the Marketing Committee to engage members and promote the association. 

Marketing Committee – Isaac Renteria, Chairperson

The Marketing Committee is charged with overseeing the TSLRRA brand with a primary focus on member relationships, content production and social media management, including website management.

Events Committee – TBA

The Events Committee coordinates efforts for events, such as golf outings and networking events.  The committee will encourage sponsorship of TSLRRA events.  The Events Committee will work closing with the Marketing Committee to promote all TSLRRA events.

Safety Committee - Pablo Gonzales, Chairperson

The Safety Committee's mission is to foster a proactive safety culture within the Texas short line rail industry by facilitating the exchange of best practices, providing specialized education, and advocating for regulatory standards that protect our workforce, the public, and the infrastructure that keeps Texas on track.
